Project
to Australia : GK English 2, class 12
At the end of the last school year, Mrs.
Weufen-Püschel decided to approach the topic for that period
Australia a bit different than usual, in the
form of project-oriented work. We were given a long list of possible
topics on the subject, ranging from the history and geography
of Australia over more current ones (such as Jörg's essay
on environmental issues and Stefan's work on the Sydney
Olympic Summer Games) to themes like Dreamtime, Aboriginal
art and poetry ( see below). It was highly interesting listening
to Katharinas experiences at an Australian high school and
Daniels adventure in Kakadu National Park .While
most students decided to work alone, there were also some groups that
worked on the more complicated topics such as Bianca, Holger and Michael
who prepared a detailed essay about Cultural Genocide and the Stolen
Generation .
Though Ms. Weufen-Püschel gave us all material as a starting
point for a work, many also did some research on their own, using
books from our school library or the Internet as additional resources.
Because the overall quality of the essays was quite high, we also
decided to prepare an exposition of our project with a big collection
of colourful pictures in the B-Foyer.
Although the exposition was meant for all students from classes 5
to 13, we were positively surprised when other teachers visited it
with a complete English class (who were currently working on the same
subject). Overall the response from students and teachers was quite
enthusiastic and made us happy.

No matter what

all the same.
Lingo little bit
